7th Grade Parents - This next week we will be starting
Parents & Students,
We are off to a great first start! I have enjoyed getting to know your students this past week and watching their learning process begin! We completed our first journal entries and vocabulary/spelling quizzes this past week. I am very pleased overall with your students' efforts in this area, and it really showed in their grades this week! If your child struggled with journal entries or the spelling/vocabulary quiz, I will be contacting you over the next week so that we can devise a plan to help improve their grade this next week. I will also be allowing students to re-take this first spelling/vocabulary quiz to help improve their grade from the previous week. I would encourage you to check with your child daily to see how they are learning their spelling and vocabulary words. One strategy I suggest for learning vocabulary is to make flash cards by writing the vocabulary word on one side and the definition on the other and study them throughout the week. For spelling, I have suggested that students find a partner to quiz them over the words every day prior to the test. As a parent, you would make a great partner for both activities to help hold your child accountable for studying! ☺ As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns! ♥ Mrs. Kelly The past few weeks of my summer have been filled with decorating a classroom, gathering resources, and designing lessons and units for my classes. I cannot describe how much I am looking forward to learning with my 7th and 8th graders this school year. It has really began to set in that school is just around the corner this week as I am getting emails about schedules, putting the final touches on my classroom, and attending staff trainings. As I begin to implement lesson plans and projects with students, I will try to update the blog of the happenings of learning in my classroom. Until then, happy planning! ☺
